Cambridge University Lecture Theater
The Brief
- Update an unreliable lecture theater system
- Provide a user friendly system
- Integrate existing sources and projectors
- Provide remote administration and support
The Delivery
The client chose to replace an existing Computer/Video monitor and a small touchpanel with a larger 12" version. The new panel incorporates a video preview window for preparing a source before sending it to one of two projectors allowing, for example, the audience to be viewing a DVD whilst the lecturer prepares a power point presentation. The touchpanel also incorporates integration with the existing Lutron Grafik Eye lighting control, electronic blinds and real time feedback from the projectors. The send to projector button changes colour and text to inform of projector warming up and cooling down modes. This feedback ensures the lecturer is always aware of the state of the system and prevents any confusion.
The embedded video window can also go to full screen mode by pressing the video window - tapping the window again returns to the control page. This has made the most of the 12"touchpanel screen and easily allows control of the computer. The lecturer also has control of DVD, Video, Tandberg 6000 Video Conference and laptop input on the lectern. The Tandberg allows full camera control in addition to privacy modes.
